Chelsea Clinton, daughter of America’s most influential women, Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton will soon publish her children’s picture book titled ‘She Persisted’.

This book will tell stories of 13 tenacious American women who overcame both professional and personal obstacles to achieve what they always dreamt of. The book will include stories of Harriet Tubman, Maria Tallchief, Claudette Colvin, Oprah Winfrey and Sonia Sotomayor and others.

Illustrated by Alexandra Boiger, the book will recall the recent incident where Senator Mitch McConnell’s attacked Elizabeth Warren on the Senate floor when she opted to read a letter written by Coretta Scott King criticizing Jeff Sessions while debating his nomination for Attorney General.

Since she refused to stop reading the letter, she broke the rule which states that no Senator shall impugn a fellow Senator. At this juncture, McConnell stood at his podium and said: ‘She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.’

Rallying over the phrase, Clinton wrote on Twitter, “Persistence has changed the course of history ― I’m so excited to share stories of girls & women who didn’t take no for answer on May 30!”

Through her first children’s book, Clinton will bring out the stories of these women whose freedom was curbed, who were attacked for pursuing their rights, but still, nothing could shake their will.

“I wrote this book for everyone who’s ever wanted to speak up but has been told to quiet down, for everyone who’s ever been made to feel less than,” Clinton said in a statement issued by Penguin Young Readers.

Chelsea Clinton's book

“The 13 women in She Persisted all overcame adversity to help shape our country — sometimes through speaking out, sometimes by staying seated, sometimes by captivating an audience. With this book, I want to send a message to young readers around the country — and the world — that persistence is power.”

And to make your wait even more interesting, let me tell you that the book will feature a cameo by “another important female figure,” which is kept suspense till yet!
