With her choice of lehenga for the wedding being so subtle, I frankly thought Anushka Sharma would wear something blingy or a statement piece for her reception.

Instead, she chose to wear a traditional Sabyasachi bright red and gold brocade Benarasi saree, which we generally see a newly-wed wearing for post-wedding rituals. Anushka looked stunning in her rooted, simple yet gorgeously bold look. The sari was complemented with a heritage uncut diamond choker and jhumkas from the Sabyasachi bridal jewelry collection, red bindi, gajra, and minimal makeup.

I don’t think Indian brides feel complete without wearing the colour red in one of their functions. Anushka decided to wear red on her reception. The designer put up a really nice message that might have been the reason behind Anushka opting for the handloom saree. Sabyasachi, in his Instagram post where he described the look of the bride and groom, thanked her for wearing and promoting Indian textiles. Bollywood does make a huge, huge impact on society and Anushka choosing a handloom saree will definitely encourage other brides to do the same.
