Photographer Captures Stunning Birth Pictures Of Mom Battling Breast Cancer

While there are many inspiring stories of women battling the disease, this one is different.

27-year-old Maria Crider from Florida was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2016 and has been undergoing treatment since then. She was 11 weeks pregnant when she found out about the condition and had been receiving treatment during her second and third trimesters.

Maria talks about her journey to HuffPost and says, “It’s been an emotional rollercoaster. I’ve been through a unilateral mastectomy, a planned cesarean, a salpingectomy, 16 chemotherapies, 25 out of 28 radiations. I still have ways to go before I can put this part of my life behind me.”

Photographer Bonnie Hussey came across her story through a mutual friend and she instantly wanted to offer Maria to document her brave journey.

Maria wants to share with other pregnant women battling breast cancer and says, “I hope it gives them the courage to talk to their doctors seek a course of action that’s right for both mom and baby. I want it to give them reassurance that you can go through certain treatment while pregnant. Logan is proof, and he’s just one of hundreds of babies born after chemo.”

Although pregnancy can affect the timing and specific choice of treatment, it is considered safe for expectant mothers.
