After the horrifying terror attack in London last week, Muslim women joined hands on the Westminster Bridge on Sunday to honor the victims.
The Kent-born terrorist, Khalid Masood, was identified as the knifeman responsible for carrying out the terror attack. He drove into pedestrians at the bridge and stabbed a police officer while trying to storm the Parliament building. Four people died, and 40 others were left injured.
Empathizing with the victims of the terror attack, nearly 100 Muslim women, held a silent, 5-minute vigil at the terror site. These women were wearing blue to represent peace. When the Big Ben struck 4 p.m., the women linked hands to express solidarity and bowed their heads to show respect to the lives lost.

This gathering was organized by Women’s March on London. The image that was posted on social media of women invited people to unite in grief, to defy “forces of fear and division,” to support the injured and to show solidarity for equality, justice, and peace. Women’s rights activist, Akeela Ahmed who organized the event, told the BBC that it was “powerful and sent a clear message.”

She further added that to keep the event low-key and less highlighted, participants were asked to disperse after the five minutes were over.
Many who participated felt the gathering sent a strong message.
“That man wanted to divide us, so by joining hands, we are literally doing the opposite of what he wanted. This is London, and you are not going to change us,” Kerena Sheath, a 25-year-old who participated in the tribute, told The Guardian. “It was something beautiful to come out of something so hideous.”
