Australia is now debating on the legalization of same-sex marriage. The Australian Bureau of Statistics has rolled out a postal survey for the same to registered voters.

American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has always voiced out her opinions for good and this time she asks Australians to come forward in support of same-sex marriage. Ellen married her love Portia De Rossi, who is from Australia, in 2008 and broke the conservative shackles.

She shared a tweet in support of legalization of gay marriage in Australia with a super sweet message for her wife.

Ellen was lauded by President Obama with Presidential Medal of Freedom last year for her stand for gay community and courage to come out strong 20 years ago without any support.   She has asked her 73.5 million Twitter followers to step forward for equality and vote yes.

The first set of ballots has been sent to the registered voters and more will be sent in the coming weeks. The postal survey asks, “Do you support a change in the law to allow same-sex couples to marry?” to which there are two options: A) Yes  B) No

The voting ends on Nov 7 and the results will be announced on the ABS site on Nov 15. Although the public voting verdict is not the final word on the law but will be considered to change the law in the Australian parliament.
