Shortly, after winning the elections, President Donald Trump had declared his initiative to build strong relations with their ally-India. On countless occasions, he has put across his wish to develop “fair and reciprocal” trading links between the two nations. Looks like someone is going strong with his promise if the number of Indian-American holding high ranks in his administration is anything to go by.

Gaining success and getting important positions under the Trump administration, nine Indian-Americans made it to the list, of which four are women.

Nikki Haley — US Ambassador To The United Nations

The second Indian-American to be ever elected a governor, Nikki Haley, formerly known as Nimrata Randhawa, was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives earlier. At 43, she’s the youngest governor in America, so it is no surprise that Time magazine  named her among “The 100 Most Influential People.”

Manisha Singh — Assistant Secretary Of State For Economic Affairs

Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, this 45-year-old completed her BA from the University of Miami at the age of 19 and has served as the deputy assistant secretary of state in the Bureau of Economic, Energy and Business Affairs, and as an aide to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Neomi Rao — Administrator Of The Office Of Information And Regulatory Affairs (OIRA)

A former professor, she also laid the foundation of Center for the Study of the Administrative State at the George Mason University. The daughter of immigrant doctors from India who settled in suburban Detroit, she graduated from Yale and earned a law degree at the University of Chicago.

Seema Verma — Administrator Of The Centers For Medicare And Medicaid Services

Verma founded SVC in 2001, a health policy consulting firm, which worked with state insurance agencies and public health agencies to prepare for the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and in the design of Medicaid expansion programs under the ACA.
