Hyderabad’s 35-year-old Bala Latha is a differently enabled woman who has appeared for the civil services exam twice. In 2009, Bala got the 399th rank and joined the Indian Defence Service.

This year, though, the talented woman has managed to secure a brilliant rank (167) making it to the Indian Administrative Service.

Bala’s success is also celebrated by her 30-year-old student Gopala Krishna Ronanki who secured third rank in all-India civil services examination, 2016.

Since 2009, Bala has been helping students get through the civil services examination. She says, “To improve my performance and to be an inspiration to many aspirants, I wrote the examination again in 2016. I provide guidance and training to more people rather than become an IAS officer.”

About Gopala’s success, she says, “He is a meritorious student since childhood and never compromised on anything. I know him personally and the problems he faced as he came from a rural background.”

Bala is differently enabled but that doesn’t stop her from dreaming big. She says, “My real success lies in bringing a change, a change in the state of Indian women – in particular our perception towards differently-abled women.”

We wish you all the best, Bala, you’re truly inspiring.
