We usually carry a question about Feng Shui implementation whenever it comes to our house interior. Let us understand the logics behind Feng Shui before practicing it in our lives.

The word Feng means ‘wind’ and Shui means ‘water’. In Chinese culture of the wind and water is associated with good health. Thus good Feng Shui came to mean good fortune, while bad Feng Shui means bad luck, or misfortune. There is a close affinity between Feng Shui and environmental design from an ecological perspective, because the aim of Feng Shui is to establish “a harmonious relationship between the cosmos, the physical environment and the man-made structures”.

Whether you are hoping to implement a few Feng Shui techniques to improve the flow of your home, or are thinking of hiring a Feng Shui consultant to give your home a complete energy makeover, learning more about this ancient art is sure to enhance your life at home.

Here are 7 strategic tips which would surely be helpful in knowing the fundamental concept of Feng Shui.

 1. Don’t let creative energy out of your window.

It is commonly recommended to put your desk facing a window with view, but it is completely contradictory to Feng Shui concept of “commanding position”. By placing your desk in a commanding position — that is, a place where you can see most of the room (including the doorway), you are likely to feel more secure and in charge of your space. Also remember the primary purpose of your room. In case of relaxing or day dreaming the earlier concept can surely be practiced but if your goal is to work efficiently, another layout may work better for you.

 2. Include the five elements in each room.

While it is not necessary to literally incorporate the five elements (water, wood, fire, earth and metal), try to bring something that represents the elements into your space. For instance, glass or a mirror can stand in for water, a candle or lamp for fire, and ceramics for earth. A room with all five elements present will feel more comfortable and well balanced.

3. Use a Water feature.

This is essential to the successful implementation of Feng Shui, which translates as wind and water. A water feature will promote feelings of relaxation and harmony. So to harmonize the environmental structure with the human nature, place a water object in your living area.

4. Use mirrors in the house

According to Feng Shui, mirrors are believed to reflect positive energy, therefore doubling its potency. They also work by preventing the flow of negative energy around the home. However, it is not recommend placing a mirror facing a front door, as it reflects good energy back out of the house.

 5. De-clutter Every Room.

One of the simplest (though perhaps not the easiest) ways to get started aligning your home with the principles of Feng Shui is to clear the clutter. Clutter saps our energy, both physically (by getting in our way) and subconsciously (by reminding us of unfinished tasks). This is absolutely fundamental to ensuring a harmonious home and life. Having a tidy, organized home will result in feelings of calm and relaxation. Anything that is broken, unused, or brings back unhappy memories should be thrown away.

 6. Work should be kept separately from rest.

Any work or home office space should be kept very distinct from living or sleeping areas. If these are mixed then relaxation will be impossible, and work material kept in the bedroom will prevent getting a good night’s rest. This can build stress and work as a reminder to you to work 24*7. In this way you would be getting a negative energy all the time. So give both of these things a distance and separation from each other.

 7. Repair promptly the broken.

Any house features such as stairs, doors or windows that are broken or not working are the symbols of negative energy. They restrict the flow of positive energy, says Feng Shui. Repairs should be made as quickly as possible to allow the energy to flow freely again.

 8. Prefer Plants, Flowers, and Fruit.

Displays of fresh flowers and plants promote positive energy. At the other side flowers with thorns should be avoided. A bowl of fruit rather than flowers should be situated in the bedroom to encourage sexual health, and displays of oranges and lemons throughout the home are defined to bring good luck.

 9. Fill your house with colors.

Colors have a special significance in Feng Shui, with different colors representing different things. For example, green symbolizes nature, and is therefore representative of life and hope. Yellow represents power, and red and purple are said to be lucky. Colors are originators of positivity basically. So use as much colors as you can. Relaxing colors are best for living places.

So, if to look into Feng Shui precisely,it promotes the simple logics of health, balanced life and creative energy. And following this living practice while understanding its concept will ensure the harmonious co-existence with nature.
