Ever Wondered How Your Favourite Songs Would Be Like If Written By Shakespeare?

If Ed Sheeran’s famous song Thinking Out Loud was written by Shakespeare then the verse “When your legs don’t work like they used to before, And I can’t sweep you off of your feet” would probably have been “When age hath take movement from thy hips and strength from these two arms to bear thy load.”
It’s amazingly-hilarious, isn’t it?
New York-based writer Astoria and musician Erik Didriksen added flavor to our favorite songs with iambic pentameter and turned them into Shakespearean sonnets.
The Pop Sonnets started with an Elizabethan take on Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” in April 2014 and quickly grew into a weekly publication with over 50 thousand followers on Tumblr.
Though the series has unfortunately been on a long pause since March 2016, the new version of lyrics of our favourite songs in the iambic pentameter is amazing.
We’ve culled together our favourite Pop Sonnets for you to enjoy and learn that a bit of innovation on anything is always good.
You can check out the entire collection of songs here.
