‘You Look Disgusting’ is a Powerful Response to all Mean Commentors

Youtuber Em Ford is famous for her makeup tutorials vlogs on her channel ‘My Pale Skin’. Women who work online face online harassment. Ford’s case is no different.
After withstanding the ample of online bullying and having received many negative comments, Ford decided to launch a video in response.
She told BuzzFeed, “When my skin became problematic last year I found myself hiding away, feeling that how I looked was unacceptable for social media. It was then that I realized that I really needed to question how and why I was feeling this way.”
To overcome the fear, she began posting her photos without makeup on social media. This went on for 3 months, during which she received every kind of comment. Most of them, of course, negative. Also she realized that there are many people like her who face similar shame on social media!
Her video shows her no-makeup face as well as face with finely done makeup. This transformation is shown along with the mean comments from social media, displaying how most of us perceive beauty.
She wrote: “I wanted to create a film that showed how social media can set unrealistic expectations on both women and men. One challenge many face today, is that as a society, we’re so used to seeing false images of perfection, and comparing ourselves to unrealistic beauty standards that it can be hard to remember the most important thing—You ARE beautiful.”
Exactly. Let’s be nice to everyone around and not be judgmental. Let’s not make some lame beauty standards that are impossible to follow in real life. Every human being is beautiful in his or her own way.
