Why This Photo Of A Newborn Lying On Her Mother After C-section Is Going Viral?

Photographer Helen Aller captured a newborn (3 days old) laying on his mum’s lap.

This photo is not just another mother-baby picture, see carefully and you can notice a mark on the mother’s belly. That’s because the child was born via caesarean-section.

Many women fear C-section. Helen wants to change this perception.

She told HuffPost UK Parents: “This lady in the photo had to have an emergency c-section. She asked me to go over and shoot this particular image to show that her biggest fear ended up saving both their lives.”

This picture of the mother & baby lying directly underneath his mother’s scar from the emergency caesarean has already got more than 37,000 shares, 17,000 comments and 128,000 likes!! Whoa!

Helen tells,”To me it’s a beautiful image that shows both a struggle and something beautiful. I have received so so many stories from c-section mums saying how it has changed the way they look at their scars.”o-CSECTION-570

The photographer also aims to break the taboo related to a woman’s body after pregnancy. The stretch marks and scars aren’t really a sign of beauty for many women. Helen says, “I can’t believe the amount of women that are ashamed of their scars and are made to feel like they haven’t done the job properly because they didn’t give birth naturally. I feel proud that an image I created has allowed so many people to open up about their experiences and change the way they feel about something they should only feel pride for.”

We second you, Helen.

She also explains about the careful placement of the baby during the shoot, “The baby could not of been placed higher as I was concerned about pressure too close to her wound. His head is supported by her pubic bone.”

We have only word for this image – awe-inspiring!

PS – Did you also undergo a c-section? We would like to hear your experience.
