As elders we think we know a lot more than children do. We assume that they cook up stories to hide their own faults. More often than not they are speaking the truth. Recognize what your child is trying to tell you.
Your child could be reluctant to speak, scared, or insistent on not meeting his “uncle” because he acts funny.
Child sex abuse is a growing concern that we sit to deal with. Every year more than 20,000 cases of child sex abuse are reported in the country not to mention the ones that are never even registered.
As parents and guardians it’s our job to recognize what the child might be trying to say to us. Generally children are embarrassed, confused or scared and find it difficult to articulate their feelings.
Believe in your children and assure them that you’re there for them no matter what happens! That way, they will feel comforted and you will be able to save your child from any further harm.
And through this video, a very important message is meant for us to receive, child sex abuse isn’t a rarity! Watch this video which shows how difficult it can be for a child to discuss the subject even with his parent.
