To Encourage Quality Education In The Village, They Decided To Ditch The Heavy School Bags

GM Upper Primary School in Kattampally, Kerala, doesn’t allow its students to carry heavy bags while they are on their way to the school.

The administration has come up with a brilliant strategy to ease little ones’ burden by allocating adults who pick up bags and tiffin cases from students’ homes. This free service has led to more kids walking to the school and showing interest in studying.

Moreover, the school is determined to promote walking as a healthy way of life rather than relying on a vehicle.

Headmistress Gangabai N said that over 300 kids enjoy this ‘privilege.’ And, we second her.

Transport in-charge N M Ravi, the teacher behind the initiative, said, “We introduced the facility last year… as many students found it difficult to carry heavy bags to school.”

Though the service is free for now, the school plans to charge Rs 15 to 20 per student monthly to meet the expenses. Also, there is no facility of dropping the bags after school.

What a brilliant effort, agree?
