This Doctor Delivers Girl Child Free Of Cost!

As the son of a coolie, Ganesh Rakh had wanted to become a wrestler but ended up becoming a doctor. And THANK GOD that he didn’t choose to try his luck in the wrestling arena! Why? If he had become a wrestler, then who would have been the one to help deliver 436 baby girls without charging from their parents?

After his fair share of struggle with life, Ganesh Rath, gained the liberty to add the prefix Dr before his name and thus started another struggle, this time against patriarchy and gender inequality.

Yes, early in his career as a doctor, Dr Ganesh Rath found out that due to some unfathomable reasons a substantial chunk of the population are not happy when a baby girl is born in their family. There is sort of an unnatural longing for a boy, who they think is the best thing that can happen to them.

So, what do you think Dr. Rath did when he opened his own hospital? He decided not to charge the couples who would come to his hospital to have babies, if the child is a girl. He even started to provide the ICU service for a girl-child for free.

It is during his interaction with the parents that he often gets startled. The way some of these people think that doctors can even change the sex of a baby is outrageous.

What more? Sometimes they also knock on the doors of self proclaimed god-men who they believe have magical powers to somehow ‘bless’ them with a boy. Ugh!

Another thing that worries Dr. Rath is that how the mothers are pressurized by the relatives to give birth to a boy. This disgusting way of seeing things was one of the reasons where he decided that apart from carrying deliveries for the girl-child for free, every time a girl is born in his hospital, sweets will be distributed in a celebration of sorts. Aww!

If you are one of those who are of the idea that government initiatives are the sole way to counter gender discrimination, think again. Dr. Rath says that it is a misconception because nowadays 95% deliveries are done in private hospitals.

He appeals to all the doctors to at least help deliver one baby girl for free. You will be surprised at the amount of difference that this small gesture could make, having the capability to brighten up things for the coming generation.

Kudos to this braveheart!
