We’ve just read about a 27-year-old woman Kriti Bharti from Jodhpur, who has been bravely fighting against child marriages for many years. And guess what, her story is pretty exciting!
Like a true savior, she has stopped about 850 child marriages in Rajasthan till now, hence saving lives of over thousands of innocent children.
Bharti is a rehabilitation psychologist and runs an NGO named Saarthi.
Talking about the inspiration behind, she tells DNA newspaper, “My childhood was suffocating. For some reasons, it was disastrous. Me and my mother were left out to feed on our own. And that’s when it all started.”
But this kind of work involves high risk. Bharti informs, “The death-threats don’t bother me anymore. Though, I had informed police a couple of times, but then they can’t be with me all the time. I can understand that. But, I have seen the worst that life can offer me already.”
This iron-lady has even been recognized in the Limca Book of Records for the first historical Child Marriage Annulment of India. Kudos!
