Only a few days ago, the news had hit us that the Kochi Metro was looking to hire 23 transgender employees, becoming India’s first government-owned company to do so.
But, things didn’t end there. It has just been announced that Kochi shall be hosting its first transgender beauty pageant on June 15.
The auditions for the pageant were held in Kozhikode, where 15 and 11 participants were respectively chosen from the Kochi and Malabar region.
The Kochi and Malabar region auditions for the pageant were held in Kozhikode and, 15 and 11 contestants have been chosen from the two zones respectively.
For the final session, a total of 15 people will be chosen for the final grooming session, and the winner shall be crowned as the ‘Queen of Dhwayah 2017.’
You will probably be surprised to know that the Kochi Transgender beauty pageant isn’t the first to take place in India. An Indian Super Queen pageant was also organized in Mumbai by transgender activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi.
