I Don’t Know If It’s Final, But Definitely The Correct Verdict: Meghna Gulzar On Talwars’ Acquittal

The Allahabad High Court acquitted Nupur And Rajesh Talwar in the murder case of Aarushi and Hemraj.
They were in jail when the verdict came out, where they are serving life sentence awarded by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad since 2013. The acquittal verdict came after they appealed against the life sentence.
Aarushi Talwar was killed at her house on the night of May 15-16, 2008 in Noida. The police found her with her throat slit and injuries on her head. Based on the murder case, Meghna Gulzar made a film called Talvar. The film argued that Aarushi’s parents were not involved in her murder and knew nothing of what exactly happened that night.
She has now reacted to the recent verdict. Zee News quotes her saying, “I do not know if this is the final verdict in the case or not, but it is definitely the correct verdict. No one can be kept in jail on murder charges without adequate evidence against them.”
Vishal Bhardwaj, who wrote the critically acclaimed film and also produced it, also tweeted, “Justice delayed is NOT justice denied. Overwhelmed and deeply relieved upon hearing the news of the acquittal. #AarushiVerdict #Talwars.”
Aarushi’s parents are fighting a lone battle since nine years to prove their innocence.
