It has been a while since we have spoken to 100 women achiever, HR Influencer Nabomita Mazumdar and during that time she has intensified her work for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign and within the time she had left between research work and campaigns, she has managed to give a TED Talk at TEDxBocconiU Mumbai. She has been quoted in Forbes US for Future of Work.
But today we spoke to her about her current project with the Indian Ministry of Women and Child Development. After being recognized for her work by Union Minister for Women & Child Development Maneka Gandhi for her ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign; she is now a partner in #WCDAgentsofChange.
What is the #WCDAgentsofChange campaign about?
This is a social media campaign that has been initiated directly by the Ministry of Women and Child Development on August 22 of this year. Although this campaign is just over a week old, it has received a lot of attention from active citizens. Through this platform, people can raise awareness and bring to light topics about women and child development that they feel to be necessary discussions for the social development of India. So far, the topics raised have been about safety, gender equality, and education.
How can people create an impact through the campaign to benefit society?
This is a campaign especially made for us citizens to have a direct platform to the Ministry and share our concerns with them. With the amount of time we spend on social media, why not become an active citizen towards an issue that is close to your heart and maybe even find more people around India who share your passion for the cause. It has been overwhelming for the ministry and for myself to see so many active citizens come out to raise awareness. And now that we have seen the extensive response our next step to channel attention to each cause for the government to take action upon. The campaign is a month-long endeavor so be sure to check out the hashtag and create awareness about the change you want to see in India.
