The founder of Instagram account @weworewhat, Danielle Bernstein, talks to Harpers Bazaar about how bloggers can get paid by brands by featuring their products on Instagram. With more than 1 million followers on Instagram, you definitely need to learn Danielle’s tactics. Below are the excerpts:
Whom to tie-up with?
“It’s super important who I associate myself with in this industry.”
She charges anything from $5,000 to $15,000 for the cost of a single piece of sponsored content (i.e. one Instagram shot). Depending on the terms of the deal, no. of Instagram pictures and brand, prices differ.
How to choose a brand/product?
Brands will send you products, it’s up to you what to choose and showcase on your blog/Instagram page. Danielle seems to be choosy, which is good! This way you maintain a certain quality standards.
“I love this bag, but do you have it in black?”
How to manage the money you generate?
“Last year was definitely my most profitable. I hate talking about money, but let’s just say it’s more than I could have ever imagined as a 22 year old. I fully support myself, and it’s in the mid-six figures. I save, I invest, I’m trying to be smart about it all and learn as I go.”
In the article, Harpers Bazaar also quotes Thomas Rankin, co-founder and CEO of Dash Hudson, a program that lets you make your Instagram posts shoppable. Thomas estimates that having about 100-1000 followers can help you make $500 to $5,000 a post; if you have about 6 million followers, the money goes upto $20,000 to $100,000! But to get approved, you got to pose right! He says, “It’s not an editorial photo. We’re not trying to be in a magazine. We’re trying to create a moment.”
