How much time did you take to learn Despacito by Luis Fonsi? Singing in a foreign language sounds like a tough task, right? But this Indian child prodigy, Suchetha Satish, at 12, learns a song in a foreign language in just 2 hours! Yes, you read it right.
Suchetha Satish, a grade seven student of The Indian High School in Dubai, can sing songs in 80 different languages. Whoa! And on 29th December 2017, she’ll try to break the world record by singing in 85 different languages in a concert.
According to the Guinness World Records, Kesiraju Srinivas holds the current record for singing in 76 languages.
Suchetha Satish said in an interview that she easily tunes in the language, a skill she developed in just over a year. She plans to master at least 5 more different languages before she attempts to break the record.
Cradling from Kerala, she already knew to sing in languages like Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and English, which developed her base to be a multi-lingual.
‘My first song in a foreign language was in Japanese,’ she said.
“My father’s friend, a Japanese dermatologist, came to Dubai a year ago. When she came home, she sang a Japanese song. I liked it very much and learned it,” she added.
It would be interesting to see if Suchetha Satish is able to break the world record or not, but one thing is for sure that Suchetha has a rare talent which commoners like us can only admire.
