Distressed Ahmedabad Woman Reveals How Helpline 1091 Never Came To Help Her

A 34-year-old Ahmedabad woman recently pointed out the flaws of the Indian woman’s helpline.
Every time she called the helpline on being assaulted by her former boyfriend, she was always told to call ‘next time he attacks’.
The helpline’s counsellor suggested that “this time” she should go to the women’s crime branch to file a complaint. When she approached the Mahila Police Station, she was asked to go to the local police station. In this way, the helpline never actually helped her! Finally, she has filed a complaint in the Ramol Police Station in Ahmedabad.
Don’t you think, this woman’s call to the 1091 helpline has perfectly demonstrated the problems most of the Indian women face with helplines? Got a similar experience? Tell us!
