Do You Support The Bill That Seeks Capping Of Wedding Expenditures?

Well, hello there. I’m a bride-to-be. And being a bride-to-be, it was obvious for me to get a heart attack when I read that the expenditure limit on weddings was going to be set to only Rs. 5 Lacs. But, I didn’t.
The bill was introduced to set a limit to all the expenditure that was going down to drain. But, I really believe that in a lot of ways, it’s next to impossible for the bill to be passed for a lot of reasons.
For starters, how do you expect the economy to flow in a country where most of the businesses depend on weddings.
What happens to the super-expensive baraats? And, how exactly do they plan to keep a check on the prices of sarees that are as good as dowry. Isn’t it?
Did you know that in the last two decades, there have been six bills that were proposed to curb expensive weddings? Have you seen any of them working so far?
On the other hand, it seems like a good move, because as a country, we do hold a reputation for having “Big Fat Weddings”. Let’s face it, most of us spend money only to please the society. Also, not to mention the society that anyway will not shy away from throwing rocks at us for keeping the sour tasting dal in the menu.
Do you think the bill should be passed or not? Let us know in the comments below.
