If you visit a fashion designer’s workplace, you are most likely to see inch tapes, sketches, papers, colorful pens, cloth swatches, needles, threads, embellishments, an array of tailors on sewing machines and what not, strewn all over the place.
It’s a complete mayhem! But what if we told you, that all you need is a computer and a 3-D printer to create your very own collection. Unbelievable, isn’t it?
With the advent of 3-D printing (or additive manufacturing), three dimensional solid objects can be created from a digital file, using additive processes (So Cool).
Israeli fashion designer Danit Peleg thoroughly exploited this form of technology and became the first designer to 3-D-print an entire fashion collection at home, using soft materials and flexible patterns. Her collection is very unique, wearable, and oh-so-pretty!
Peleg graduated from Shenkar College of Design in 2015, and now provides consultancy to design houses and fashion designers regarding new technologies.
According to Danit, ‘I believe that technology will help democratize fashion and give designers more independence in the creation process’.
Its absolutely amazing how technology can affect and change the age-old ways of doing stuff! All we need are more risk-takers and dreamers. #GirlPower
