Brooke Axtell is a domestic violence activist. She took to Grammy’s stage to speak against domestic violence and sexual assault along with Katy Perry and Barack Obama. Brooke broke into tears as she spoke from her heart, addressing those millions of women who undergo domestic violence by their male partners.
Brooke began her speech introducing herself as a ‘survivor of domestic violence’. Listen to her complete speech here. Also, read below an excerpt of her powerful words:
“Authentic love does not devalue another human being. Authentic love does not silence, shame or abuse. If you are in a relationship with someone who does not honor and respect you, I want you to know that you are worthy of love. Please reach out for help. Your voice will save you. Let it extend into the night, let it part the darkness. Let it set you free to know who you truly are — valuable, beautiful, loved.”
We heard you Brooke.
