I am a barbie girl, in a secular world, celebrating my identity, with utmost pride.
To be proud of your identity and not succumbing to world’s demands takes courage.
US Olympian Ibtihaj Muhammad broke odds last year when she competed for The United States in fencing at the 2016 Rio Games wearing a hijab. She was the first Muslim-American to wear a hijab at Olympics and won a bronze medal.
Barbie this year launched a doll wearing a hijab honoring the Olympian. The doll is part of the Barbie “Shero” line that honors women who break boundaries. The doll was unveiled at Glamour’s Woman of the Year Summit in New York.
We are so excited to honor @IbtihajMuhammad with a one-of-a-kind #Barbie doll! Ibtihaj continues to inspire women and girls everywhere to break boundaries. 🤺 #Shero #YouCanBeAnything #GlamourWOTY
