Last year, a lot of actresses from both Hollywood and Bollywood came forward talking about the injustice they face in the industries regarding their wages.
Another American actress, Amanda Seyfried, has joined the list. You have seen her in ‘Ted 2’. Last week during an interview with The Sunday Times, she spoke about the issue of wage gap she has faced.
She remembers, “A few years ago, on one of my big-budget films, I found I was being paid 10 percent of what my male co-star was getting, and we were pretty even in status.”
She opened about how she felt after getting paid less than her male co-actors.
She says, “I think people think, because I’m easygoing and game to do things, I’ll just take as little as they offer. But it’s not about how much you get, it’s about how fair it is.”
The issue of gender wage gap is a story almost everywhere. But then it is you who has to take a stand. As Amanda explains, “You have to decide if you’re willing to walk away from something, especially as a woman.”
